In an article dated October 22, Anthropic describes cases where folding separate planners and specialist agents into one loop improved enterprise systems. Context and tools are loaded as they become necessary.
The company is not abandoning multi-agent designs: independent parallel tasks, verification and permission separation remain suitable uses. Its recommendation is to choose an architecture through measurement, rather than by copying the roles in an organization chart.
Our takeaway: compare simple and complex approaches on the same real-world tasks. Measure the correctness of the final action, time, cost and compliance with constraints. Do not turn a result from a particular deployment into a promise that one agent always beats a team.
